Before You Meet With Us

What to expect from your consultation

A confidential consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. Here's exactly how it works, from your first request to your next steps.

Before

Requesting your consultation

You'll start by submitting a short consultation request - your contact information, the practice area involved, and a brief description of your situation. This takes about three minutes and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

A member of our team reviews every request personally to match you with the right attorney based on your practice area and, where relevant, any attorney preference you note.

Typical response time

Within one business day, by phone or email, to confirm your appointment and consultation method.

During

Your first conversation with an attorney

30–45 minutes

Enough time to walk through your situation without feeling rushed, and to ask questions of your own.

In-person, virtual, or phone

Choose whichever format is most convenient - the consultation itself doesn't change based on method.

Fully confidential

Everything discussed is protected, whether or not you decide to move forward with representation.

After

Deciding on next steps

By the end of the conversation, your attorney will outline the realistic options available to you, an estimated scope of work, and - if you choose to proceed - a written engagement agreement covering fees and next steps. There's no pressure to decide immediately, and no obligation if you'd like time to think it over.

Preparation Checklist

How to make the most of your time

  • A brief written timeline of the events relevant to your matter
  • Copies of any contracts, notices, or correspondence involved

  • Your general goals - what a good outcome would look like for you
  • Names of any other parties or counsel already involved, if applicable

Ready when you are

Requesting a consultation takes a few minutes and carries no obligation.
